*** PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM FULLY, CV'S ARE NOT ACCEPTED*** The position of Cancer MDM/Data Manager encompasses both data and administrative responsibilities which include the following:

Data & Information Management Responsible for the maintenance and development of hospital databases and reports To collect, store and retrieve clinical and operational data including extracting data from patient's medical records, ensuring it is complete and accurate and to entering information into data systems To perform data entry and support the development of data collection for hospital activity and outcomes To co-ordinate collation of information in order to supply reports for specific purposes within and outside the hospital Implementing efficient and secure procedures for data management Ensure the highest data integrity and quality and conduct regular validation Ensuring compliance with local, regional and national reporting deadlines Development of supporting documentation including flowcharts, report definitions and user guides To assist with subsequent phases of development and implementation of enhancements to data systems, including extension to other users Excellent communication of information both written and verbal Provide cross functional cover for other team members to ensure continuity of service Responding to ad-hoc data and report requests To have ongoing responsibility for the cancer clinical audit databases within the hospital, ensuring the data meets operational, management and clinical audit requirements as dictated by National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP), University Hospital Waterford and the clinicians in the cancer services group To extract data from patient's medical records ensuring it is complete and accurate and to enter the data onto the cancer clinical audit databases To be responsible for ensuring 100% capture rate and accuracy of cancer data on cancer clinical audit databases To provide ongoing training for staff on cancer clinical audit information systems To work with other Cancer Data Managers and MDM Coordinators to provide support to Cancer Services in UHW To work with clinicians in the cancer services group to analyse the outcome of treatment Administration Ensure the efficient day-to-day administration of area of responsibility Execute assignments in accordance with agreed plans, budgets, and deadlines Ensure deadlines are met and that service levels are maintained Ensure an even distribution of workload among team, taking into account absence due to annual leave etc Ensure policies and procedures are well documented and understood and adhered to by staff in own section Ensure accurate attention to detail in own work and work of team Use appropriate technology to ensure work is completed to a high standard Ensure that archives and records are accurate, maintained confidentially and readily available to the appropriate authority Ensure line management is kept informed of issues Ensure that the service is kept informed and that their views are communicated to middle management Represent the Data & Analytics Team on committees and groups as required Support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service Human Resources / Supervision of Staff Supervise and ensure the well-being of staff Create and maintain a positive working environment among staff members, which contributes to maintaining and enhancing effective working relationships Deal with under performance in a timely and constructive manner Identify training and development needs of staff Promote co-operation and working in harmony with other teams and disciplines Pursue and promote continuous professional development in order to develop expertise and professional knowledge Customer Service Promote and maintain a customer focused environment by ensuring service-users are treated with dignity and respect Seek feedback from service users/customers and implement change to incorporate same, in agreement with line manager Ability to engage with stakeholders and clearly explain and interpret their data and report requests Service Delivery and Improvement · Ensure accurate attention to detail in own work and work of team

Embrace change and adapt local work practices accordingly Encourage and support staff through change processes Monitor efficiency of service provided by team, identify and implement changes to the administration of the service where inefficiencies arise Maintain relationships with key stakeholders Promote co-operation and working in harmony with other teams and disciplines and to gather support for new initiatives where required Work in the team to drive innovation, which will translate into improved quality of care, clinical outcomes, reduced costs, efficiencies and process improvements Standards, Policies, Procedures & Legislation Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for own area Maintain own knowledge of and compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, guidelines and practices to perform the role effectively and to ensure current work standards are met by own team Maintain own knowledge of relevant policies such as the National Service Plan (NSP) relevant and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Maintain own knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation e.g. GDPR, Financial Regulations, Health & Safety Legislation, Employment Legislation, FOI Acts etc.
Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards and other standards as they apply to the role for example, Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards.
