Job Summary
The Shift Supervisor will be fully responsible for leading and motivating a Shift Production Team spread across three main manufacturing teams. Rotating shift position.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver daily plant production targets.
Ensure agreed customer delivery dates are achieved.
Maintain high standards of product quality and control costs.
Lead shift daily operations meetings to review and communicate production data, performance issues and targets across all areas of the shop floor and implement any corrective actions that may be required.
Maintain workflow through tactical management of the production process and available crew across all manufacturing teams.
Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to throughout all stages of the manufacturing process.
Instill a culture of continuous improvement based on the company’s LEAN manufacturing initiative.
Expedite materials, equipment and resources as required to maintain a balanced workflow.
Drive team performance through technical feedback, coaching, counselling and training team members to create a high‑performance flexible team.
Collaborate with all operational HR issues such as time‑keeping, holiday requests and any disciplinary issues.
Take a leadership role in preventative maintenance planning and interventions.
Implement site Health & Safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment at all times. Ensure reporting of near‑miss incidents/accidents is reported immediately to the Health & Safety Manager following procedures.
Promote and support the 6S programme throughout all areas of the factory floor.
Ensure completion of all Shop Routing Cards (SRCs), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), paint reports and any other necessary paperwork.
Qualifications & Skills
Manufacturing experience in an engineering and fabrication environment.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
Background in LEAN manufacturing principles an advantage.
Performance and result driven.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to nurture and develop employees.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of MIG, TIG, blast and paint would be advantageous.
Extensive experience with engineering drawings.
Crane and forklift experience.
