Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team. As a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing estimates for projects in the modular, industrial, commercial, and offsite sectors. Your duties will include:

1. Preparing thorough estimates on new projects.
2. Reading and understanding tender instructions, detailed drawings, and specifications.
3. Measuring quantities from Engineer's or Architect's drawings.
4. Calculating costs for fabrication labour, materials, transports, site installation.
5. Liaising with colleagues to ensure accuracy of tender.
6. Building relationships with Clients, Main Contractors, Engineers, Architects & Quantity Surveyors.
7. Obtaining quotes and building relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors.
8. Maintaining a database for enquiries and submitted tenders using our CRM system.
9. Following up and tracking quotations.
10. Partaking in post-tender negotiations.
11. Overseeing cost control by preparing project budgets and keeping them current and accurate throughout the life cycle of each project.
12. Monitoring and reporting on financial expenditure, ensuring alignment with financial budgets for each project.
13. Submitting payment claims, valuations, and final account for each project.
14. Working closely with design teams and project managers to ensure all extras/variations are costed and notified to the client.
15. Assisting project managers and commercial teams with cost control and managing variations.
16. Working closely with the Sales team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 3 years, preferably within the construction or engineering sectors.
* Knowledge: Knowledge of structural steel, cladding, modular buildings would be an advantage.
* Negotiation and Communication Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills are required.
* Cost Control and Cost Planning: Proficiency in cost control and cost planning is essential.
* Organisation and Time-Management: Excellent organisational and time-management abilities and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines.
* Willingness to Learn: Willing to learn in a growing fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in MS Office: Proficient in MS Office.
