Project Title

Product Design Engineering Student – CANoe Trace Analysis Project

Project Overview

The primary objective of this project is to develop a method to accurately identify Kostia service messages within CANoe trace files. This involves interpreting CAN bus data, filtering relevant service messages, and possibly creating scripts or tools for automation. You will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard automotive communication protocols and trace analysis.

Responsibilities

* CANoe Trace File Analysis: Analyze CANoe trace files to understand the structure and sequencing of captured data.
* Kostia Service Message Identification: Develop rules, algorithms, or scripts to filter and identify Kostia service messages from the trace data.
* Tool Development: Support the creation or improvement of automated tools (e.g., in CAPL, Python, or similar) to efficiently extract and report service messages.
* Documentation: Document your process, including methodology, assumptions, test cases, and outcomes.
* Reporting: Present findings to the engineering team, highlighting effectiveness and any challenges encountered.
* Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and tool specialists to validate identified messages and iteratively refine your approach.
* Continuous Learning: Attend relevant team meetings and training sessions to deepen understanding of automotive diagnostics and CAN bus communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Product Design Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
* Basic understanding of CAN (Controller Area Network) communication protocols.
* Familiarity with CANoe or similar automotive network analysis tools.
* Experience or coursework in scripting or programming (e.g., Python, CAPL, VBA).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Detail-oriented with effective documentation abilities.
* Good communication skills for reporting and collaborating.

What You’ll Learn

* Industry-standard methods for CAN bus trace analysis and signal identification.
* Automated data extraction and reporting techniques.
* Application of scripting/programming to real-world automotive engineering challenges.
* Collaboration within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
