Purpose of the Role This a pivotal role in the clinical coordination of the National Newborn Bloodspot Screening (NNBS) service in Ireland, including the management and referral of 'screen positive' cases. The post holder will work as part of the NNBSL team in the provision of this service. They will have opportunity to participate in the further development of this essential national screening programme. The post holder will develop and maintain internal and external links with and promote an awareness of, the screening programme to all service users. They will liaise directly with families and multidisciplinary teams to seek and provide information and advice on matters relating to the NNBS programme. They will provide effective professional leadership and act as a resource to ensure a responsive and quality service to all users. Essential Criteria: Candidates must: Be registered RCN, RGN or RM in the active Register held by the NMBI or be entitled to be so registered. Have at least 5 years post registration experience. Have a relevant professional academic qualification of not less than level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications. Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proof of excellent decision making skills and understanding of levels of clinical importance.
