Purpose of the Role There is a major clinical focus to this role. The purpose of this post is to lead, coordinate and improve access to care for children with neurological conditions and to assign patients to the most clinically appropriate care pathway. The purpose of the role is to provide timely access to neurology care, to avoid unnecessary procedures and to contribute to the efficient use of neurology resources in CHI at Crumlin. The CNM 2 (Access to Care - Neurology) will work as a key member of the neurology team providing support to neurology colleagues and referring clinicians Case load: The caseload for the post-holder will be determined in consultation with the Neurologists and relevant ADON. Expected outcomes The expected outcomes of nurse-led triage include: Clinically suitable patients will be removed from the neurology waiting lists. Patients will be directed to alternative care pathways. Patients will be scheduled for investigations and appointments where clinically indicated. Children will be more suitably prioritized which will improve access to care. Increased awareness and use of current triaging standards Improved patient experience for those on neurology pathways of care. Essential Criteria: Be registered on the Children's Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland And Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be within an acute paediatric hospital setting And Higher Diploma (Level 8) or Masters with specialist modules specific to the speciality or commitment to obtain within 2 years And Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role And Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level How to Apply & Informal Enquiries Applications for this post must be accompanied by a cover letter, setting out relevant experience that illustrates how the essential criteria listed above is met.
