Job Title: Senior Electrical Infrastructure Designer
Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Infrastructure Designer will lead the design and delivery of electrical systems for major data centre and other critical systems projects.
* Develop both scheme and detailed engineering designs for electrical systems (MV, LV, essential power / back-up power, electrical building services including life safety services, etc).
* Manage engineering designs in line with client brief and/or other project requirements.
* Review and provide feedback on designs produced by more junior staff.
* Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to team members.
* Contribute to the day-to-day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental and health and safety procedures).
* Provide training and coaching to more junior staff, including acting as a mentor to support those pursuing membership of professional institutions.
* Attend internal and/or external marketing and business development events as appropriate.
* Contribute to the preparation of submissions and fee bids.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
* Contribute to Practice-wide technical initiatives (such as the development of technical standards, software development, knowledge sharing etc).
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A degree level (minimum level 8) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (MEng or BEng or equivalent).
* Chartered Engineer desired, if not currently, you will be supported towards Chartership.
* A proven track record in the concept design and delivery of multiple large-scale critical infrastructure projects, preferably in a data centre / critical systems and /or other mission critical context.
* Proven experience of detailed coordination with other design disciplines, well-versed in theory behind and use of relevant design software including Amtech, ETAPS or SKM power systems analysis software.
* Proven ability in producing schematic diagrams, fault and discrimination studies, preparing specifications and project reports, carrying out site inspections and surveys, and detail design development.
* A collaborative leader and role model; sharing knowledge, experience and expertise, whilst contributing to the development of a robust, diverse and motivated team.
