Applications are invited for the position of Transport Supervisor - Part Time 2 Year Fixed Term Contract position - Grade 5 We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transport Manager to oversee the management and coordination of our transport services across Disability Services. This is a pivotal role ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate transport for our service users, many of whom are vulnerable and require specialist support. Key Responsibilities: Manage the organisation's fleet of vehicles, ensuring all are roadworthy, properly maintained, and hold up-to-date documentation (e.g. tax, insurance, NCT, permits). Oversee daily transport routes and ensure the running boards are accurate and up to date. Manage third-party transport contracts, ensuring high-quality, reliable service for all users. Coordinate with families on any changes to transport schedules, ensuring a respectful and responsive approach. Maintain consistent and effective communication with both Day and Residential services. Ensure all staff involved in transport are trained in Safeguarding, Clamping, Manual handling, NIMS, and other relevant areas. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and compassion in all aspects of the transport service. Manage transport capacity planning for incoming school leavers, ensuring sufficient provision is made across routes. Participate in transport planning meetings with the HSE and internal Programmes team to address capacity needs and upcoming changes. Prepare and submit business cases for additional transport resources where required. Ensure all procurement of transport services or vehicles adheres strictly to organisational and public procurement guidelines and procedures. Essential Criteria: Proven experience in transport or fleet management, preferably in a health or social care setting. Minimum of two years management experience and the ability to demonstrate excellent relevant management and leadership skills. Strong understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of individuals using disability services. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience managing third-party service providers and ensuring contractual compliance. Ability to lead and train staff to a high standard, with a focus on safety. Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and all relevant legislation. Ability to demonstrate a flexible working approach to responding to the needs of a 24/7 service A relevant qualification, excellent computer literacy and a full, clean driving license, Desirable: Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in disability or health services. Knowledge/Experience in the area of construction and building standards An understanding of how HIQA legislation impacts on facilities management in healthcare services.
