About the Company:

The Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is the national agency for designers and makers in Ireland. We currently have 68 member organisations and over 3,500 registered clients.

We are funded by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment and promote the commercial development of the design and craft sectors in Ireland. We support makers and designers to develop and market their products.

Our vision is that the craft and design sector increase its contribution to Ireland, economically, socially, and culturally by 2030.

Our mission is to support designers and makers to develop their businesses sustainably, and advocate for the societal benefits of craft and design.

About the Position:

* The role sits in the Executive Leadership Team of DCCI and reports directly to the CEO.

* The Head of Commercial Programmes role suits a driven, organised, commercially focused person to lead the department. In this role, they will be required to work with the CEO to identify, develop and pursue commercial opportunities for our clients and thus increase the provision of support to Ireland's design and craft sectors.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

* Direct the annual Showcase TradeFair (physical and digital) in partnership with DCCI's subsidiary company, to maximise the commercial opportunity for DCCI from the subsidiary. This could include multi-annual fairs, either physical or digital.
* Lead a commercial programme that supports DCCI's annual operating plan through generating revenue for our clients, to be agreed each year as per the budget signed off by the DCCI Board.
* Develop a programme of activity following a recent review of the strategy around DCCI's National Design & Craft Gallery and curatorial policies to ensurea comprehensive fit for purpose approach is in place, in line with the values of the Council.
* Responsible with other members of the DCCI Executive to oversee the governance of the Council.
* Execute the strategic planning, budgeting and decision-making process for the commercial team and related programmes.
* Build and maintain key commercial relationships for the benefitof DCCI's clients.
* Establish strategic joint ventures to create more commercial opportunities for DCCI.
* Monitor and deliver interimand key performance indicators for the commercial team.
* Ensure that internal controls regarding commercial revenue are in place and regularly monitored, in line with the risk appetite of the Council.
* Provide oversight to ensure the implementation of health and safety across all areas of work within the team to ensure that the legal requirements are met.
* Ensure adherence to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion across all aspects of the Commercial teams' work.
* Maintain high staff motivation and output level across the team, including active implementation of the Performance Development process.
* Ensure that continuous learning and development are undertaken through informal and formal learning and participation in the Performance Management and Development Review Process
* Contribute to the leadership and development of DCCI at a corporate level as a member of the Executive team.
* Cultivate good working relationships with other DCCI Executive members.
* Monitor and deliver interimand key performance indicators for the Commercial team.

Experience / Requirements:

* Recognised as a champion for DCCI's vision, mission, and values.
* Proven ability to implement cross-sector strategies with defined KPIs, with preferably a minimum of five years' experience leading and growing a commercial department.
* Proven track record of delivering on set annual commercial targets.
* Proven ability to provide effective leadership and management to motivate and develop people to achieve high performance through providing constructive feedback and monitoring success.
* Recognised ability to effectively lead and manage change to keep all internal and external stakeholders engaged and involved with the strategic implementation.
* Excellent people manager with skills in developing and motivating a team.
* Appreciation of the value of creativity in the workplace to deliver goals.
* Committed to the financial and operational realities of a national agency, where building a resilient revenue pipeline is key to long term success.
* Have an inquisitive mind and passion for excellence and innovation in the pursuit of business and cross-sectoral growth.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote the goals of DCCI.
* Knowledge and passion of Irish craftand design marketplace is preferred, however, not required.
* Knowledge of the Irish craft and design sector, includingeconomic and business affairs, as well as political, social, and cultural matters.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) is required.
* Degree in businessor other relateddegree.
* Travel will be required on occasion across Ireland and internationally.
* Full driver's licence.
