We are seeking an innovative Design Engineer to join our clients' team in Co. Limerick, a progressive Civil Engineering and utilities contractor.Based in their Limerick office, this role focuses on the design and delivery of large-scale national infrastructure projects within the Water and Utilities sectors.Our client specialises in complex water rehabilitation, wastewater treatment, and urban infrastructure renewal. This is an office-based position that offers the opportunity to work on high-profile frameworks for national utility providers, utilising modern BIM and 3D modelling technologies.The working location will be in Limerick. As projects are nationwide, there may also be an option to work from the West, Midlands or Southeast going forward.Role & ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of the design team, you will be responsible for the technical integrity and efficiency of infrastructure designs from initial concept through to final delivery.Developing detailed designs for water distribution networks, wastewater collection systems, and general civil infrastructure, ensuring all solutions are cost-effective and sustainable.Preparing comprehensive design reports, technical specifications, and planning documentation for submission to clients and local authorities.Utilising industry-standard software to perform hydraulic analysis, pressure management calculations, and network capacity assessments.Overseeing the production of high-quality 2D and 3D drawings, ensuring all designs are integrated within a BIM environment to facilitate seamless construction.Ensuring all designs strictly adhere to Irish Water (Uisce Éireann) standards, Health & Safety regulations (PSDP), and environmental requirements.Working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to provide technical support, resolve design queries (RFIs), and ensure the design intent is maintained during the construction phase.Skills & ExperienceStrong analytical mindset and a passion for civil infrastructure.Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, which include Design).2+ years of professional design experience, ideally within the water, wastewater or utilities sector.Candidates with a background in consulting or main contracting design offices are encouraged to apply.Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D are essential.
