Lead R&D Engineer
Location: Co. Mayo, Ireland
Overview
Seeking an experienced R&D professional to drive early-stage innovation and develop new product concepts and technologies. The role involves leading and supporting cross-functional teams from clinical need through to concept and prototype development.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate clinical needs into device concepts and prototypes in line with human factors and regulatory requirements.
* Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance the product portfolio.
* Provide technical support to NPD, Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams.
* Lead or support cross-functional project teams.
* Manage project schedules, risks, and deliverables.
* Prepare financial justifications for project approvals.
* Review vendor offerings and source materials/components.
* Support product introductions, trials, and patent activities.
Requirements
* 8+ years' industry experience, preferably in medical devices.
* Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline (Master's/PhD preferred).
* Strong innovation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with human factors, product design, and prototyping.
* Good knowledge of medical device regulations and quality systems.
* Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
* SolidWorks/3D modelling experience (preferred).
* Fluent in English (written and spoken).
