POST: 3 X PERMANENT FULL-TIME TEAM LEADER (CNM1/Social Care Leader)
Location: Hyde Services (Roscommon Town, Kilteevan, Athleague, Tremane/Rahara)
Role Overview
The Team Leader has a pivotal role in managing the day‑to‑day delivery of services. They provide leadership and supervision to teams while ensuring the development of the service in line with national standards and best practice.
Responsibilities
Assist the Team Manager with management of the services;
Implement person‑centred planning in line with Personal Outcome Measures ethos and practice;
Manage resource allocation and staffing, including rostering;
Oversee staff development and continuous professional learning;
Facilitate effective communication and professional leadership to ensure a good quality of life for the people supported.
Qualifications
(I) A relevant 3rd level qualification in Nursing and current Live Register Certificate from NMBI;
(II) Registered or eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU (see list of recognised Social Care qualifications at https://coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/education/approved-qualifications/social-care-workers/);
(III) Hold a Schedule 3 qualification (see list at https://coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/registration/registration-requirements/approved-qualifications/schedule-3-qualifications/schedule-3-qualifications);
(IV) Hold a comparable qualification recognised by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU;
(V) Meet the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 – proof of application for registration with CORU must be submitted (correspondence confirming application received by 30th November 2025);
Hold an appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care Management (QQI Level 6) – if not held, a commitment to obtain it prior to starting the post is required;
Previous experience of effectively managing a staff team and demonstrating a proven ability to proactively lead, motivate, empower and achieve results through people is an advantage;
A minimum of three years of post‑qualification experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability is essential;
Demonstrated commitment to community integration and active citizenship for all people with disabilities, with experience in human rights and advocacy;
Experience in the area of autism and behaviours of concern would be an advantage.
Skills
Leadership, communication and team‑working abilities;
Knowledge and experience managing people’s well‑being using an evidence‑based approach to person‑centred planning (e.g. Personal Outcome Measures);
Knowledge of the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and relevant regulations;
Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and confidentiality, be creative and self‑motivated, communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms, and cooperate in a team environment with a person‑centred philosophy;
A full clean manual Driving Licence, qualifying for manual transmission vehicle driving in Ireland and using own car, is essential;
Fluency in verbal and written English is essential.
Working Hours
The contracted hours will depend on the grade of the successful candidate – 78 hours a fortnight (SCL grade) or 75 hours a fortnight (CNM1 grade) rostered flexibly on a 7‑day duty roster. The Team Leader will work as a frontline member of the team with protected time for specific duties. A sleep‑in and/or night duty commitment may be required for posts in residential services, with the appropriate allowance paid.
Annual Leave
Leave will be granted according to the agreed leave assigned to the grade of the successful candidate (Social Care Leader or CNM1). Annual leave must be planned in advance with the Team Manager to ensure adequate cover.
Remuneration
Based on the salary scale attached to the grade of the successful candidate (Social Care Leader or CNM1; pro‑rata for part‑time). Salary is quoted for a 39‑hour working week. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service.
Tenure
Permanent, full‑time and pensionable. A panel may be formed from which subsequent Team Leader appointments may be offered over the next 6–12 months.
