Role Overview The Catering Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of all catering services across Orwell Private and Garville Private, including kitchens, life skills kitchens, café, and shop services. The role ensures all catering services are delivered in line with Orwell Healthcare policies and procedures, with a strong focus on nutrition, hygiene, safety, operational efficiency, and resident satisfaction. Working closely with clinical teams, the Catering Supervisor will ensure residents nutritional needs are met while maintaining full compliance with food safety legislation, HIQA standards, and best practice in healthcare catering. Duties and Responsibilities Service Delivery & Operations Oversee daily operations of all catering areas including: Orwell Private dining Orwell Queen of Peace dining Special dietary requirements (e.g., allergen control, texture-modified diets, pureed/soft diets) Café on the Avenue Kitchenettes (stock control, cleanliness, inventory management) Retail shop stock control Ensure compliance with: HIQA Standards HACCP processes Food safety regulations Infection Control protocols Monitor food waste and conduct food satisfaction surveys to improve service delivery, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all preparation, service, and transportation areas. Participate in menu planning, nutrition meetings, and events with the Activities and Management teams. Team Leadership & Training Lead and supervise all catering, kitchen, café and shop staff to ensure professional presentation and performance. Provide staff training, induction and ongoing development, including HACCP training and food safety training. Manage daily rosters, ensuring safe staffing levels while maintaining value for money. Conduct internal audits, quality checks, and performance reviews. Customer Service & Resident Support Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring a positive resident and visitor experience. Support front-of-house, café, and retail operations when required. Respond promptly to resident feedback, concerns, or complaints. Coordinate catering for events, celebrations, and special occasions. Governance & Administration Maintain confidentiality of resident and organisational information. Report resident concerns or complaints promptly to management. Assist with maintaining equipment, ensuring preventative maintenance and record keeping. Support the implementation and review of catering policies and procedure Compliance, Safety & Reporting Uphold full compliance with: Ensure full compliance with HIQA standards, the Health Act 2007, and all relevant regulations. Maintain adherence to HACCP procedures, food safety legislation, and Environmental Health Officer (EHO) requirements. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies including infection control, hand hygiene, choking risk management, hydration guidelines, and specialised dietary requirements such as pureed or modified diets. Maintain accurate records and complete required audits including HACCP documentation and operational checks.
