Our client is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting a large multi-product pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical support for Emerson DeltaV systems, including engineering tools, batch configuration and historian applications.
• Coordinate day-to-day systems support activities across a complex manufacturing environment.
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure reliable, compliant automation performance.
• Manage data and information systems, ensuring archiving, storage and retrieval meet regulatory requirements.
• Deliver hands-on training and coaching to increase system capability and support zero-defect operation.
• Develop and maintain automation documentation such as SOPs, impact assessments, change controls, design records and verification reports.
• Perform system upgrades, migrations, health monitoring and periodic reviews, including user access assessments.
• Oversee the lifecycle and data integrity of DCS and historian systems.
• Ensure automation solutions meet safety and regulatory expectations.
• Support recipe testing, start-up readiness and product changeovers.
• Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, standard work development and visualisation of performance metrics.
• Troubleshoot issues using structured problem-solving tools and drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Collaborate with safety, quality, engineering, operations and digital teams to deliver reliable, compliant automation performance.
Experience and Skills
• 10 years of Delta V experience.
• Third-level qualification in a relevant discipline or significant equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to analyse problems, develop solutions and manage change in a GMP setting.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Experience with change control, documentation practices and data integrity principles (ALCOA).
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and drive improvements.
• Motivation to learn new technologies and continuously enhance system performance.
