Job Description Summary
The Manager, Regional Commercial and Medical Affairs – Finance is responsible for owning the regional, consolidated financial budgets and forecasts for assigned departments. This role also handles the distribution of monthly reports to senior management, highlighting and reporting on variances from the budget and prior forecast. The Manager works closely with the financial accounting organization to ensure proper expense recognition and compliance with internal controls.
Responsibilities
Own the preparation of the annual, regional commercial consolidated budget for assigned departments, including oversight for entry and ongoing maintenance of assigned department budgets within the company’s budgeting system.
Provide support to budget owners on annual budgets and long‑range forecast processes, delivering periodic budget and forecast updates.
Support the FP&A Lead and business key stakeholders on other activities as assigned, including participation in Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and contract negotiations with external service providers.
Lead business case preparation and discussion as needed.
Interact with external service providers to ensure proper invoicing, expense recognition, or other finance‑related activities.
Prepare and distribute Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) reports and perform analysis of current vs. annual plans.
Maintain close communication with financial leaders at the business unit and functional level to identify risk factors and opportunities that may influence forecasts.
Develop and build expense tracking models for assigned departments and drive month‑end accrual processes.
Perform analysis of large data sets to reveal the underlying story behind the numbers.
Maintain standard reporting tools to identify key risks and opportunities.
Participate in finance system optimization to streamline data gathering processes for reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Support financial and business controls and standards, including SOX requirements.
Prepare applicable management reporting, KPIs, and audit schedules as necessary.
Perform other tasks and assignments as directed by management, including special projects or ad‑hoc financial analysis.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 4 years of relevant financial planning and analysis experience, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related environment.
Demonstrated understanding of the budgeting process.
Demonstrated experience performing modelling, forecasting, and budgeting‑related financial activities.
Solid accounting and financial reporting experience in an operational environment.
Demonstrated ability to approach and influence.
Travel requirements: 0%‑20%.
