The Role - Senior Project Engineer
The role of Senior Project Engineer is to provide mechanical engineering support to the construction team to ensure the effective delivery of mechanical systems in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Ensure works are carried out safely to industry, site and client specific safety requirements, this includes walking down works, generating RAMS/Method Statements and liaising with client representatives
Resolve all enquiries and clarifications (RFIs) in a timely manner
Liaise with workshops on prefabrication and co‑ordinate the works including prioritizations, test requirements, and documentation. Execute works in a co‑ordinated manner to fulfil the project requirements of cost, schedule and quality.
Generate work scope documentation and detail applicable specifications for subcontracts such as painting, scaffolding, insulation, clean rooms architecture, scaffolding and HVAC.
Prepare bills of quantities, raise requisitions, plan material deliveries, receive and release to the site works
Attend client, sub‑contractors and internal meetings as required.
Liaise with resource managers for the mobilization and demobilization of site resources, including arranging inductions, giving inductions and administration of all records for same.
Review designs and ensure there are no constructability issues, raise requests for information and track same.
Perform site surveys and resolve all construction activities with site foreman / charge hands.
Control and monitor hours worked, input same into diary, price small works, implement and manage all site change requests / variations as they arise.
Work closely with Quantity Surveyors on cost management, including pricing of variations, reworks, progress reports, negotiation with clients and sub‑contractors. Inspect all works for compliance with safety requirements, technical specifications and compliance with design.
Plan and prepare all test documentation, in accordance with the Project Quality Plan and Internal Testing Plan.
Assist the Construction Manager with the internal and external project status reporting.
Maintain all relevant project data on business systems, and document sharing portals.
Plan the assembly of hand‑over packages to customer or their representative.
Liaise with internal and external QA/QC resources to ensure the compliance of our work scope with standards, client specifications and industry requirements.
Prepare snags and control snag list execution.
Reporting monthly EHS statistics.
Ensure inspection of works including all sub‑contractor work scope.
Perform site walk down with customers for final acceptance of the works.
Prepare all technical documents relating to sub‑contracted works.
Adherence to project quality plans and internal processes and standards.
Person Specification
Education: Degree Qualification Mechanical Engineering, Construction or equivalent
Proficient in suite of Microsoft applications, Word, Excel.
Proficient in the use of Navis Works or equivalent packages.
Completion of Management of Safety in Construction (MSIC) - desirable.
Minimum 2 years relevant work placement experience as mechanical engineer is required.
Experienced in process industry in piping fabrication, installation and testing.
