Job Taitle: Occupational Therapist - Rotational Acute Hospital Roles Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week Start Date: Immediate Start Available Contract Type: 12-Month Agency Contract (with strong potential for extension) Salary: HSE Payscale - Competitive Hourly Rates Depending on Experience Excel Recruitment is currently recruiting Staff and Senior Grade Occupational Therapists for rotational positions at a well-established Level 2 Acute Hospital in Mullingar. This is a fantastic opportunity for Occupational Therapists who are passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a diverse caseload of children and adults. This role spans across stroke care, frailty, acute medicine, surgery, and the acute medical unit, offering the chance to significantly broaden your clinical expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment. Job Purpose: As a Rotational Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of both paediatric and adult patients. You'll work collaboratively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best clinical outcomes and support functional independence across a wide range of conditions. Overview: Rotational posts covering Stroke Unit, Acute Older Adults, Frailty Services, Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and General Medicine & Surgery. Opportunity to impact discharge planning, rehabilitation, and long-term outcomes. Excellent CPD opportunities and access to experienced Occupational Therapists. Clinical Responsibilities: Conduct thorough OT assessments and implement individualised, evidence-based treatment plans Lead on functional rehabilitation, adaptive equipment, and discharge planning Deliver high-quality care across a range of clinical areas including medical, surgical, stroke, and frailty Participate in MDT meetings, care planning, and patient education Contribute to quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives Supervise junior staff and support professional development where appropriate Maintain accurate, professional clinical documentation in line with HSE and CORU standards Essential Requirements CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist Staff Grade: Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience Senior Grade: Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally in acute care Experience in an acute, hospital, rehabilitation or community setting. Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical reasoning skills. Ability to manage a varied caseload and adapt to a fast-paced hospital setting.
