Overview
A major manufacturing expansion project is underway, requiring the build of a new on-premises Data Center and four Intermediate Distribution Facilities (IDFs) to support critical business and production operations. The Data Center will house approximately 30 cabinets within a 100m² environment and will be built to BICSI Class F3 standards. The IDFs will each be three-cabinet areas, providing essential connectivity and infrastructure.
Position: Data Centre Senior Project Engineer
Location: Dun Laoghaire area (max. 45-minute commute / 50km)
Contract: ASAP start – until Dec 2027 (possible extension into 2028, subject to project delivery)
Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day activities of IT-technical vendors (e.g., structured cabling, installation), ensuring safety, compliance, and schedule adherence.
* Work closely with Data Center Architects and the Infrastructure Manager to identify and resolve delays, non-compliance issues, and technical challenges.
* Collaborate end-to-end with design partners, construction teams, and installers to deliver high-quality results.
* Technical Scope: MEP and Security systems supporting the Data Center and IDFs.
* IT Scope: Local wired network connectivity, Wireless Access Point installation, and Manufacturing Network deployment.
* Maintain consistent communication with on-site and remote teams, partners, and contractors.
* Monitor quality standards and project milestones from planning to commissioning.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
* 10+ years’ experience within data center, hosting, or telecommunications environments.
* Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, cabling standards, and networking (TCP/IP).
* Strong understanding of IT hardware (servers, switches, etc.) and related systems.
* In-depth knowledge of MEP systems supporting data centers.
* Experience in regulated or high-demand environments (GxP experience preferred).
* Familiarity with ISO/BS standards is an advantage.
