Electrical Maintenance Technician

eFlexes Recruitment is currently recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician on behalf of a leading manufacturing organisation based in Limerick.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining manufacturing and facility equipment, systems, and infrastructure in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence.
This role involves both preventative and reactive maintenance within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Technical Support
1. Maintain manufacturing process equipment to ensure optimal operational performance.
2. Maintain facilities systems and controlled environments.
3. Respond to equipment breakdowns with thorough fault-finding, diagnostics, repair, and improvement actions.
4. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance activities on time.
5. Conduct critical and non-critical equipment calibration.
6. Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
7. Implement engineering upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Documentation
8. Maintain accurate and compliant maintenance records within the Quality Management System.
9. Ensure all work is performed in line with established quality, safety, and environmental standards.
10. Oversee external contractors completing servicing and calibration.
11. Maintain workplace safety and ensure correct procedures are followed at all times.
Team & Development
12. Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.
13. Supervise and mentor an electrical apprentice.
14. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing and facilities.
15. Demonstrate a proactive approach to further training and professional development.
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
16. Electrical trade qualification or Electrical Engineering qualification (Craft level or higher) – Industrial/Commercial.
17. Strong working knowledge of:
Electro-mechanical systems
Pneumatics
Heating systems
Motor control and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
18. Experience with PLCs and HMIs.
19. Ability to read and troubleshoot:
Ladder logic
Function block programming
Electrical and mechanical schematics
20. Experience in machine automation (relays, load cells, sensors, switches).
21. Knowledge of fire alarm, security, and network systems.
22. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
23. Ability to work independently and take ownership of decisions.
24. Strong documentation and computer skills.
25. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
26. High standards of housekeeping and workshop organisation.
27. Full ownership of electrical systems, equipment, and spare parts management.
Desirable (Not Essential)
28. Instrumentation experience.
29. ATEX (vapours) experience.
