CHW120 Occupational Therapist, Senior (Teiripeoir Gairme, Sinsearach) Children’s Disability Network Team
Location: There is currently one permanent full-time vacancy in CDNT 8 East Galway & South Roscommon, base is St Brendan’s Campus, Lake Road, Loughrea, Co. Galway. A supplementary panel may be formed for current and future vacancies.
Responsibilities
* Maintain standards of practice for self and staff in clinical/designated area(s).
* Manage own caseload with assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes in line with service standards.
* Participate in the integrated discharge planning process in line with the HSE Code of Practice.
* Oversee day-to-day running of designated service areas, supervise staff, prioritise and allocate work, and promote team morale in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager.
* Lead service planning with the Occupational Therapist Manager to anticipate changing needs of the service and service users.
* Participate in teams and maintain professional working relationships with other team members.
* Ensure quality documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries according to standards.
* Communicate assessment results and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with policy.
* Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds as designated by the Occupational Therapist Manager.
* Ensure staff in the designated service area(s) carry out duties timely and in line with local policy/guidelines.
* Adhere to existing standards and protocols; lead on development and maintenance of standards and outcomes measurement.
* Seek advice in line with evidence-based practice and clinical governance.
* Maintain confidentiality, data protection, ethics and relevant legislation.
* Operate within CORU requirements and local guidelines.
Education and Training
* Participate in mandatory training programmes.
* Engage in continuing professional development, including in-service training, conferences/courses, and research as agreed.
* Undergo professional clinical Occupational Therapist supervision with the Occupational Therapist Manager.
* Engage in peer support with Senior Occupational Therapist colleagues.
* Participate in the HSE performance achievement process with your Line Manager.
* Involve in practice education of student therapists and supervise other staff/students as appropriate.
* Ensure induction and clinical supervision for newly qualified therapists and participate in annual staff development and performance reviews.
Health, Safety and Administrative
* Promote a safe working environment and comply with health and safety legislation.
* Implement policies, procedures and safe professional practice; manage and monitor risks.
* Document incidents and adhere to HIQA/HSE protocols.
* Coordinate and deliver service in designated areas; manage resources in collaboration with the OT Manager.
* Develop service plans, quality initiatives and audits; report outcomes with the OT Manager.
* Maintain accurate records in line with governance, FOI/GDPR and provide reports/statistics as required.
* Represent the department at meetings and liaise with OT Manager about staff needs and views.
* Promote teamwork and diversity; manage OT stock and engage in IT developments relevant to service delivery.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications And/or Experience
* Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the CORU Occupational Therapists Register.
* Have three years full-time (or equivalent) post-qualification clinical experience.
* Have the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of duties.
* Provide proof of statutory CORU registration before contract of employment is issued; maintain annual registration.
* Confirm annual CORU registration with CORU to HSE via PSAC as applicable.
Post Specific Requirements
The candidate must demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in providing a service to children and families or to individuals with complex needs, with ability to adapt to varied settings and work as part of a team. Access to appropriate transport is required.

The HSE campaigns follow the CPSA Code of Practice; selection may involve ranking/shortlisting based on application information.
