Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal - Surgical Focus
Permanent, Full-Time (Part-Time & Flexible Options Considered)
Salary: Up to €70,000 DOE + €5,000 Relocation Support + Full Benefits
Looking to do more of what you love – surgery – and less of what you don't?
We're looking for a surgically-minded vet who's ready for their next move – whether that's stepping up into a senior role, building towards referral-level work, or even exploring leadership opportunities in the future.
At Tullamore Pet Hospital, we're a close-knit, friendly team with a strong surgical caseload and plenty of room to grow.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being in theatre, wants to develop their surgical skills further, and is maybe ready to move away from the constant grind of back-to-back consults.
What the role looks like:
This is a surgery-heavy role, with a strong focus on theatre time and managing advanced cases.
While there will still be some consults and general practice work, the balance is designed to favour surgery – whether soft tissue or orthopaedics (or both).
There's flexibility here too – this role can evolve to suit your strengths, interests and ambitions.
Want to work towards referral level?
Brilliant.
Thinking about clinical leadership or becoming a Clinical Director in future?
We can support that path too.
1 in 4 Saturdays and a shared on-call rota (one night per week).
No Sundays or Bank Holidays.
Why choose Tullamore Pet Hospital?
We're based right in the heart of the midlands – an easy commute from most of the country, with a great quality of life and lower cost of living.
Our hospital is well-equipped with everything you'd expect to support surgical work to a high standard (full diagnostics, in-house lab, theatre suites, imaging, etc) and our team is collaborative, supportive and genuinely down to earth.
You'll be joining a friendly, skilled group of vets who are passionate about delivering excellent care.
Currently, three of our vets hold certificates in Internal medicine, so there's great support and expertise to draw on across complex medical cases.
This mix means you'll have plenty of opportunity to focus on surgery while working alongside colleagues who can confidently handle medical referrals and advanced diagnostics.
We believe in clinical freedom and professional development – if you've got ideas, we want to hear them.
You'll also have the chance to mentor junior vets, shape the way we do things, and grow into a role with real influence.
What we're looking for:
A VCI-registered vet with solid small animal surgical experience.
Ideally, you've got or are working towards a Certificate in Surgery, but if you're keen to specialise and want support to get there, we're all ears.
Someone confident handling complex cases and who's comfortable with occasional sole charge.
An interest in mentoring or developing others is a bonus – but not essential.
Comprehensive Benefits Package (subject to pro-rata)
We believe in investing in our people.
In addition to a competitive salary and a long-term, stable role, you'll benefit from:
6.4 weeks annual leave, inclusive on bank holidays
Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday
Paid maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave packages
Cycle to Work Scheme
Company Sick Pay & Bereavement Leave
Access to EAP & Wellbeing Centre
Structured 5- day week with shared on-call duty
€1300 annual CPD allowance with 40 hours paid CPD leave
Full funding for any Certificates / Diplomas / PhD's you may want to pursue
Opportunities for clinical and leadership progression
VCI and VDS memberships fully covered
Dedicated CARE fund - €1,100 annually to support exceptional cases
Additional Benefits
Annual Pay Reviews
Employer Pension Contributions
Discounted Veterinary Fees across the IVC Evidensia network
Free Flu Vaccinations
Access to "Pawesome" Benefits – retail and lifestyle discount platform
Opportunity to join company programmes (LGBTQ+, Wellbeing Champions, Nurses Committee, Clinical Board and many more)
