About the RoleWe’re seeking a junior-to-mid-level CFD Support Engineer to join a leading mechanical engineering team working on data centre cooling and airflow modelling. You’ll support global initiatives around design, construction, and sustainability, helping to drive efficiency in critical infrastructure.This role is fully supported with office space, tools, computational resources, licenses, and ongoing mentorship.What You’ll DoCarry out CFD analysis of airflow and cooling performance in data centres (HELYX, OpenFOAM, or similar).Post-process results and prepare clear, visual summaries for senior engineers.Assist in validating CFD models against operational data.Collaborate with design and sustainability teams on cooling performance and water-use impact.Contribute to the development of in-house modelling tools.Document assumptions, inputs, and results for internal knowledge-sharing.Occasionally support thermal and water modelling for experimental designs or new technologies.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.Solid understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.Hands-on experience with CFD tools (HELYX, OpenFOAM, ANSYS, SimScale, or similar).Basic skills in Python scripting and Excel data analysis.Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn.Preferred Qualifications1–3 years’ experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services.Familiarity with psychometrics, airside economizers, or evaporative cooling systems.Exposure to scripting/automation of CFD workflows (Python, bash, macros).Awareness of sustainability metrics such as PUE or WUE.Passion for sustainable, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure.Why Apply?Work on large-scale, real-world CFD projects in a cutting-edge environment.Gain hands-on exposure to advanced computational engineering tools.Receive full support and mentorship while developing your career.Contribute to sustainable infrastructure solutions at scale.Application DetailsTo hear more about this position or to discuss your suitability please reach out to Nisha for a confidential chat on 01 632 5046 or email your CV to nisha.rutherford@recruiters.ie.
