Social network you want to login/join with:Clinical Nurse Specialist (Colorectal), CorkClient: Mercy University HospitalLocation: Cork, IrelandJob Category: OtherEU work permit required: YesJob Reference: 81ce7c56ed0dJob Views: 3Posted: 08.07.2025Expiry Date: 22.08.2025Job Description:Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)(Permanent Contract, Full Time Hours)The CNS Colorectal Service is accountable to the Director of Nursing and professionally accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing.Responsibilities:Undertake comprehensive patient assessment including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual care using evidence-based practice in colorectal care.Lead in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating patient services.Provide specialist nursing support for patients with benign or malignant colorectal conditions requiring ongoing care.Develop and implement care plans based on patient assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and patients' families or carers.Participate in case reviews with MDT colleagues.Manage complex patient needs collaboratively with MDT in primary and secondary care settings.Contribute to evidence-based practice guidelines for colorectal care.Communicate and negotiate with patients and families, representing their values and decisions within the MDT.Promote patient advocacy and informed decision-making.Provide expert knowledge and act as a resource for staff.Support learning and education within the clinical environment.Practice within professional frameworks and act as a role model.Liaise with relevant conferences and data managers to ensure timely discussions and accurate data collection.Develop quality assurance and audit systems to meet care standards.Lead in clinical practice development and guideline implementation.Eligibility Criteria:Registered nurse/midwife on the active NMBI register.Minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience in surgical nursing or CNM2, or 3 years' experience in the relevant division.At least 1 year experience in colorectal specialty.Completion of a postgraduate program at Level 9 or higher (or equivalent), verified by an educational provider, with relevant ECTS credits.Demonstrated ongoing professional development relevant to the specialty.Ability to practice safely within scope of practice.Closing date for applications: 1pm on Monday, 14th July 2025.MUH reserves the right to create a panel for this post to fill future vacancies.About Mercy University Hospital:A leading hospital in Cork with over 1,500 staff, offering comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services.
