Land Consultant Role
About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Land Consultant to lead our team in delivering successful projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in rural environment, property, communities and agricultural working practices, as well as experience working on infrastructure development schemes with multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a team of technical specialists to ensure timely, cost-effective and high-quality delivery of projects.
* Provide trusted advice to clients (internally and externally) and manage relationships effectively.
* Advise on land issues within Ireland and UK, including relevant statutory processes to acquire land.
* Secure land rights for high-profile strategic infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.
* Liaise with landowners, auctioneers, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, key stakeholders, contractors and clients.
* Collaborate closely with the Land team and work alongside engineering, environmental, and planning teams.
* Oversee quality assurance of deliverables related to land interests and rights, negotiation of access to land for surveys, consents and acquisition of land rights for large-scale development projects, as well as land acquisition and planning applications.
* Promote Land services and contribute to business development across various sectors.
* Support knowledge sharing and lessons learned across regions and projects.
* Develop efficient working practices and promote innovation to provide industry-leading best value services to clients.
* Ensure the team has necessary skills and resources to deliver successful projects and grow the business.
* Manage, motivate, mentor and develop staff to contribute to the delivery of the business strategy.
* Support writing bids/tenders to secure opportunities from internal and external clients.
* Lead training on technical topics.
Ireland and UK travel is required for this role.
Requirements:
* Expertise in rural environment, property, communities and agricultural working practices.
* Experience working on infrastructure development schemes with multi-disciplinary teams across various sectors and locations.
* Knowledge of negotiating commercial terms with landowners and understanding of the legal process for acquiring wayleaves and easements.
* Demonstrable experience reducing land risk for clients and advising on land-related matters throughout project lifecycle stages.
* Proven track record developing Orders and/or acquiring consents and interests in land, along with knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Ability to communicate effectively with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
* Motivated and able to work in a team and on own initiative, handling pressure and delivering high-quality outputs.
* Strong landowner and public engagement skills.
* Good business and IT skills.
* Excellent adherence to quality assurance and good document management skills.
* A degree in Geography, Agriculture, Land and Estate Management or similar.
* Chartership or membership of a Professional body would be advantageous.
* A full driver's licence is essential.
