Procurement Specialist

This role involves leading the procurement strategy and execution across capital projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, preferably in the energy or construction sectors. They should have experience managing large-scale procurements (over €1M) and be familiar with technical equipment such as HVAC and electrical systems. Additionally, they should possess excellent negotiation skills, contract knowledge, and commercial acumen.

The successful candidate will own and lead the procurement strategy for Astatine's multi-technology assets. This includes sourcing suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, and building costed procurement schedules aligned with project timelines. They will also negotiate terms and framework agreements to reduce risk and optimize commercial outcomes. Furthermore, they will manage supplier performance, ensure contract compliance, and support tendering and bid development with accurate and timely procurement inputs.

A key aspect of this role is collaborating closely with engineering, project delivery, and commercial teams to align procurement with project scope and design intent. They will engage early in the design process to influence value engineering and supplier standardisation. The Procurement Specialist will also monitor market trends, pricing risks, and lead-time fluctuations, driving sustainable procurement practices and ensuring compliance with ESG policies. Finally, they will mitigate risks related to geopolitical or logistics disruptions.

Requirements:
- 7+ years in procurement, preferably in energy, industrial, or construction sectors.
- Proven experience managing procurement for large capital projects (€1M+ value).
- Strong negotiation skills and contract knowledge (e.g., NEC3/4, FIDIC, bespoke supply contracts).
- Familiarity with technical equipment: HVAC, electrical systems, pressure vessels, etc.
- Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) is advantageous.
- Commercial acumen and cost awareness
- Proactive problem-solving and critical thinking
- Structured, detail-oriented approach
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Adaptability in a scaling, fast-moving environment
