Business Manager - Salt Division
Our client a leading Irish Wholesaler is seeking a skilled Business Manager to drive growth and deliver strategy. Based in their Cork office, this role is ideal for an experienced and driven professional. In this role you will shape and execute strategic initiatives to optimise product portfolio, engage customers, and build market presence. This role includes responsibilities in market analysis, supplier management, product planning, pricing strategy, promotional activities, and more.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development
Utilise market insights and thorough analysis to identify opportunities for portfolio growth and innovation. Develop and execute comprehensive strategies aligned with organisational objectives to drive sales, optimise margins, and manage costs effectively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with sales teams to ensure alignment on category strategies and sales activities. Work with finance teams to analyse performance, forecast sales, and manage budgets. Partner with procurement to align sourcing strategies and ensure supplier performance. Coordinate with operations to optimise inventory and delivery. Proactively minimise cross-functional issues and focus on value-add initiatives.
Market Insight
Monitor market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities and risks that inform portfolio decisions.
Business Division Performance
Use data-driven insights to track performance against targets and forecast trends. Monitor sales, margin, and cost metrics, identifying improvement opportunities and collaborating across teams to optimise results.
Range & Assortment
Work with procurement and suppliers to curate high-quality product ranges aligned with customer needs and commercial objectives.
Pricing
Develop and implement pricing strategies informed by market dynamics and competitive positioning. Analyse trends to determine optimal pricing structures.
Promotions
Collaborate with marketing to develop and execute promotional campaigns that drive sales and customer engagement. Negotiate terms with suppliers and measure effectiveness to refine strategies.
Inventory
Implement inventory optimisation strategies balancing customer demand and cost considerations.
Supplier Strategy & Procurement
Develop and execute supplier strategies aligned with business objectives. Manage end-to-end procurement, including supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management. Identify opportunities for innovation, range development, and exclusive agreements while ensuring cost competitiveness and supply continuity.
Customer Engagement
Develop strategies to understand customer needs and enhance experience. Drive engagement initiatives and collaborate with sales teams to support growth.
People Leadership & Management
Lead and develop teams, ensuring clear structure, accountability, and performance standards. Foster a culture of engagement, ownership, and continuous improvement while effectively managing cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Skills
Third-level qualification in a business-related discipline
7+ years’ experience in business management
Strong understanding of market dynamics and consumer behaviour
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
Proven leadership and cross-functional team management experience
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Results-driven with a focus on profitable growth
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
