Graduate Electronics
to join our group (Starting Summer ****)
We are looking for a motivated
Graduate Electronics Engineer
to join our team.
This is a unique opportunity to kickstart your career at the forefront of space technology, contributing to the design and delivery of space-grade hardware and next-generation Free Space Optics (FSO).
We offer an environment where your contributions have an immediate, visible impact.
You won't just be a small cog in a large machine; you will be mentored by industry experts and given real responsibility from day one, working on complex systems destined for space.
What you'll do
Design and schematic capture of circuits for optical control, electromechanical control, optical readout and optical signal chain processing
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout of above designed circuits, including exposure to high speed RF layout
Support component selection suitable for space-grade hardware and aerospace deployment
Design of circuits to AS/EN**** and relevant JEDEC standards, with specific reference to aerospace standards
Creation and specification of power budgets for (sub)systems
Development of (sub)systems from prototype to aerospace-qualified products
Work closely with interdisciplinary mechanical and optical teams to design in mechanically and thermally constrained environments with strict optical requirements
Design and modelling of analogue (optical) readout & signal processing circuits such as TIAs, DACs, etc.
Simulation of PCBs for next generation Free Space Optics (FSO) transceivers
Development of noise models and link budgets
Test of designed circuits to validate performance in a laboratory environment
Documentation and review of design, test & validation of (sub)system designs
Design of test platforms for circuit testing
Who you are
Bachelors or Masters in Electronic Engineering or similar
Strong fundamental understanding of electronics design, including analogue and digital circuit design
Familiarity with PCB design software: Altium, EAGLE, KiCAD, or PADs
Foundational knowledge of signal integrity and impedance matching
Experience with SPICE simulation for analogue circuit verification
Understanding of communications protocols e.g. CAN, SPI, UART, I2C
Hands-on experience with typical electronic laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) through university projects or internships would be beneficial.
Internship or project experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability sectors
Interest in radiation-hard component selection and aerospace environmental constraints
Experience with high-speed PCB layout or RF design principles
Familiarity with thermal modelling or electrical power budgeting
Knowledge of aerospace electronic design standards (e.g. AS/EN ****)
