Retail Fresh Food Manager Job Galway

We are working with our client who is seeking an experienced fresh food counters manager ideally within a high C store convenience shop or a Supermarket. There is great scope to grow here, but as Fresh Food Manager, you will be mainly responsible for driving the performance of their key deli department, bakery, produce and other fresh sections through effective leadership of the teams here. A competent and driven, Deli Manager, Produce Manager or Bakery Manager keen to move into a broader fresh food role would be ideal.

Salary: 40, ,000 Neg DOE, staff discount, 40-hour contract and pension
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in managing in a busy supermarket store, with over 20 employees, particularly having responsibility for the fresh food departments to ensure efficiency and profitability.
* Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation in compliance with health regulations.
* Oversee product quality, freshness, and proper rotation to minimise waste and drive margin.
* Support chargehands, department heads in ordering and controlling inventory management to ensure stock levels meet customer demand without excess.
* Train, supervise, and support department managers, staff fostering a positive and productive work environment.
* Oversee merchandising for fresh foods, ensuring displays are attractive, appropriate, planned and executed professionally
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, concerns, and special requests.
* Collaborate with the Fresh Food teams to plan promotions and drive sales initiatives.
* Using EPOS and other data available to monitor and analyse sales trends to optimise inventory and merchandising strategies.
* Work closely with your suppliers and trading partners to get the best equipment, infrastructure, produce and ensure all areas of fresh foods are compliant and in good working condition.
Job Requirements:
* Extensive experience in fresh food departments, ideally a busy supermarket retail business, or food retail shop environment.
* At least 3 years management experience, responsible for multiple departments, teams under you.
* Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and handling procedures.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, high pressured to deliver on deadlines, budgets, and other regulatory requirements
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
* Basic computer skills for inventory management and sales tracking.
