You’ll be a valued contributor on the Funds Management team at the heart of Toast’s business. This team handles billions of dollars annually with hundreds of thousands of restaurants depending on us – so it’s vital that we pay them the correct amount, on time, every single day. You’ll collaborate closely with the team to build reliable, scalable, and trustworthy features as well as working on the cutting edge of emerging real‑time payment technologies. As a member of the team you’ll have opportunities to learn from other talented engineers as well as mentoring and helping more junior members grow.
A day in the life (Responsibilities)
Develop an expert understanding of Toast’s payments processing platform and related FinTech offerings, such as loans and savings.
Collaborate on a new innovative settlements platform for restaurant credit card payments, seamlessly processing millions of financial transactions daily.
Contribute & gain experience at every stage – solution design, estimation, coding, code review, testing, debugging, integrating, documenting, and maintaining.
Champion best practices – quality integration, continuous delivery, automated testing, security reviews, end‑to‑end testing, performance testing.
Ensure that all work is delivered with quality and is monitored and supported in production.
What you’ll need to thrive (Requirements)
3+ years of professional experience with Java, Kotlin or another object‑oriented language.
Capacity to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly with others to solve the problem, and share knowledge to help the whole team succeed.
Enjoys building well‑engineered, reliable, and scalable microservices.
Driven by real‑world customer impact.
Experience working in a team with Agile/Scrum methodology focused on delivering reliable high‑quality software.
Nice to have:
Professional experience of component testing and E2E testing.
Experience with AWS technologies like DynamoDB and ECS.
Exposure to distributed systems, SaaS, SQL, Apache Pulsar.
