We are seeking applications from energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for the above positions. Job Objectives

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team at Nua Healthcare and take a lead role in providing high quality, biopsychosocial informed care for a cohort of patients with mental disorder within our mental health service.

This will include the following on a day-to-day basis:

Main Duties

* To ensure ICP’s are up to date and that services are being always delivered to the highest possible quality and safety standards.
* To be familiar with and to adhere to the local safety statement (risk assessments and standard operating procedures) always.
* To be familiar with and to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
* To use company IT systems as instructed and to never share your passwords with another or do anything likely to result in the unutilised disclosure of company and or personal data as defined under the General Data Protects Regulations (GDPR).
* To act responsibly, at all-times, and to co-operate with our regulators in the very best interests of our service and the people who use them.
* To maintain the highest level of infection control standards as directed by company policy and national best practice guidance in the utmost interests for the Safety, Health and welfare for yourself, your colleagues, our service users and residents and any other persons in so far as is reasonable and practicable.
* You are required to work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines. You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and will support the nursing team to undertake this role. Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans in conjunction with patients, carers (where relevant) and other professionals ensuring individual needs are met.

Clinical Responsibilities

* To provide a nursing assessment of patients admitted to the service.
* To prepare for, participate in and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings, such as Tribunals and supporting the nursing team to undertake this role.
* To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatments including the custody, storage and administration of medicines.
* To maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures and treatments through supervision and instruction.
* To ensure patients’ rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act.
* Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure that allocated staff are aware of Individual care plans and objectives, together with any set activities to be undertaken.
* Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff members.
* To take charge of the Centre in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
* Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing, exercise leadership within the service by ensuring sound organisation, good communication and relationships within the nursing team and the MDT.
* Inform the Director of Nursing and of any professional issues as necessary in line with NMBI codes of conduct and support with the initial investigations, as necessary.
* To partake in the planning and preparation for MHC visits and inspections.
* To take the lead in working alongside outside agencies to ensure effective communication across services.

Skills Requirement

Qualification:

* Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQ1 Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent may be an advantage, or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years from the date of appointment.

Knowledge:

* Knowledge, understanding and familiarity with the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice.

Experience:

* A minimum of 5+ years post qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience.
* A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in a management position within the area of Psychiatric nursing.

Skills:

* An ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others.
* A strong desire to be ones best.
* Excellent organisational skills / self-motivated / self starter.
* Excellent verbal, written communication, and IT skills.
* Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team.
* Willingness to learn.
* Dedicated, reliability and flexible approach to work.
