Role Overview
As a Senior Grade Psychologist, you will take a leading role in providing high‑quality psychology services to children and young people (0–18 years) and their families. Working within a dynamic interdisciplinary framework, you will deliver expert assessments and interventions through a family‑centred approach. This senior position involves clinical leadership, service development, and the supervision and mentoring of staff‑grade psychologists, assistant psychologists, and students. Your work will span various settings, including clinics, schools, homes, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and manage a complex caseload, providing expert assessments and interventions.
* Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to staff‑grade psychologists, assistant psychologists, and students.
* Take a lead role in service planning, innovation, and development within the psychology discipline.
* Delegate tasks appropriately and support the development of junior staff members.
* Foster a culture of evidence‑based practice, contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives.
* Represent the psychology discipline at internal and external meetings and conferences.
* Act as a mandated person under the Children First National Guidelines, upholding the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.
Qualifications and Experience
* Recognised university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) with 1st or 2nd class honours in Psychology, meeting the Psychological Society of Ireland requirements to work as a Clinical Psychologist.
* Irish post‑graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
* Equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
* Demonstrate competence in the Care Group(s) applied for.
* Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* At least five years of satisfactory post‑graduate experience in professional psychology, with no more than three years spent gaining the post‑graduate professional qualification and at least two years full‑time post‑qualification experience as a professional psychologist.
* For clinical or counselling psychology qualifications: have acquired, in appropriate health settings, at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification or 60 days or equivalent post‑qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.
* For educational psychology qualification: demonstrate at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements or post‑qualification supervised work experience in Child Disability or Child Psychology.
