Caregiver in Child Welfare
This role offers a unique opportunity to join an organisation delivering trauma-informed care for young people aged 13-17.
The team fosters positive attachments through relationship building, providing a therapeutic environment.
You will work with professionals to deliver holistic, trauma-informed care, including responsibility for working with children and young people, household activities, administration, teamwork, professional development, health and safety.
* Develop and implement Care and Placement Plans, ensuring accurate recording.
* Promote rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the service.
* Foster physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person in care.
* Encourage attendance at school, training centers, medical appointments.
* Organise personal documents, arrangements, information, finance on behalf of the young person.
* Liaise with parents, family, services, agencies on behalf of the young person.
* Attend meetings related to care and developments of the young person.
* Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person.
* Apply local policies and procedures for physical intervention.
* Promote participation in decision making on issues affecting their lives.
* Prepare well-balanced meals with young people.
* Undertake aspects of home management, including budget, upkeep, cleaning.
* Report to Social Care Leader/Manager on matters affecting service delivery.
* Make written and verbal reports on progress of young person's development.
* Evaluate Child protection procedures according to designated officer responsibilities.
* Maintain current knowledge of legislation and professional childcare standards.
* Participate in ongoing training and development.
* Comply with and contribute to policy development, safe practice, relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
* Aware of Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).
Requirements:
* Registered in the Social Care Workers Register or hold a CORU-approved qualification and be eligible for registration.
* Demonstrate requisite knowledge, ability, and suitability for proper discharge of duties.
