Join to apply for the Molecular Ecology Research Assistant role at South East Technological University
We seek a dynamic and motivated individual with the necessary skills and experience to identify mosquito species from larvae and water using DNA barcoding involving conventional PCR, Sanger Sequencing, and Bioinformatic Analysis. The role will also involve testing eDNA samples for the presence of mosquito species using qPCR. The candidate will map identified samples using GIS and design novel trapping approaches for adult mosquitoes via pilot studies.
The role requires experience in DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and bioinformatics. Field experience in developing surveillance approaches, GIS skills, report writing, and manuscript preparation are also essential.
The candidate will join a team of researchers at SETU collaborating with UCD, DAFM, and the National Museum of Ireland. Good communication skills and teamwork are required.
