About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Service, the Senior Parks and Landscape Officer is a senior management position within the Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Directorate responsible for the development, management, and administration of the parks service, which includes public realm areas, parks, recreation facilities, and biodiversity initiatives. The role requires a strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation, biodiversity strategy, and budget management.
The control, maintenance and development of parks and public realm open spaces, including recreational facilities.
The planning, design and construction of new parks and open spaces.
Management of planting and maintenance of trees on public thoroughfares and open spaces.
Support the development of the Council’s biodiversity function.
Participate in the annual budget process and manage budget resources.
Promote green infrastructure, climate change mitigation, and public wellbeing through infrastructure initiatives.
Overall management of the multidisciplinary Parks and Landscape Team, ensuring appropriate training and development.
Develop policies and strategies for their area of responsibility.
Contribute to the planning permission application process.
Determine the nature level and pattern of demand for services, recommending service levels and strategic priorities to the Director of Service.
Implement agreed strategies and annual service programmes.
Tendering and procurement of goods and services.
Maintain productive relationships with elected councillors and stakeholders.
Lead and participate in multidisciplinary and interdepartmental project teams.
Deputise for the Director of Service as required.
Attend and participate in statutory meetings.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
