We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability of our plastics recycling facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment faults, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preventative Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance across production equipment and facility systems to ensure optimal performance and extend asset lifespan.
* Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to breakdowns and faults with a focus on quick diagnosis and repair to minimize downtime.
* Maintenance Planning: Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance tasks in coordination with the Engineering Manager to optimize resource allocation and efficiency.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and service histories to inform future maintenance decisions.
* Facilities Maintenance: Perform general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
* Team Support: Support production teams during equipment start-ups and changeovers to ensure smooth operations.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to lean initiatives and 5S practices to enhance process efficiency and productivity.
* Vendor Liaison: Liaise with contractors and vendors for servicing, repairs, and installations to ensure high-quality outcomes.
* Spare Parts Management: Assist in managing spares inventory and procurement of maintenance materials to minimize delays and costs.
* Knowledge Sharing: Develop and share troubleshooting guides and standard work procedures to promote knowledge transfer and best practices.
Requirements:
* Experience: A minimum of 35 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or process environment.
* Mechanical and Electrical Background: Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background, with recognized qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
* Multitrade Maintenance: Proven ability to work across multi-trade maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
* Predictive Maintenance: Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems and scheduling, including CMMS or digital maintenance tracking tools.
* Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, and ability to apply these principles in a fast-paced industrial environment.
* Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills, with a strong attention to detail and analytical mind.
* Communication: Good communication and teamwork capabilities, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
