IT Project Engineer / Project Manager Position Title: IT Project Engineer / Project Manager Contract Term: 36 months (with potential for extension) Reporting To: IT Manager Start Date: Immediate Purpose of the Role The IT Project Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for leading and delivering several concurrent IT infrastructure and security projects.
The role requires a combination of project management expertise, strong technical understanding, and the ability to liaise effectively with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Projects The postholder will be involved in the following initiatives: Email Gateway Implementation and rollout of Mimecast and DMARC (in progress).
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Implementation and rollout of Cisco Duo (in progress).
VPN Replacement Selection and implementation of a new staff VPN solution (currently on hold).
Telephony Testing and rollout of Microsoft Teams Voice (in progress).
Network Access Control (NAC) Testing and rollout of a NAC solution.
Backup Solutions Evaluation of Google Workspaces and Microsoft backup options (may be superseded by a Microsoft project later in the year).
Change from existing ITSM system to Service Desk Plus Key Responsibilities Manage the delivery of assigned projects to agreed timescales, budgets, and quality standards.
Coordinate project activities across multiple workstreams running in parallel.
Act as the primary interface between the organisation and third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment and accountability.
Provide technical oversight to ensure solutions are implemented effectively and in accordance with organisational requirements.
Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including: Integration and design diagrams (Visio or equivalent) Test and rollout plans Knowledge base (KB) articles Training and support documentation Support the transition of new systems into business-as-usual operations.
Report on project progress, risks, and issues to senior management.
Essential Demonstrable experience in IT project management, including managing multiple concurrent projects.
Strong technical understanding of IT infrastructure and security concepts including cyber.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to coordinate and manage third-party suppliers effectively.
Proven ability to produce high-quality documentation, including technical diagrams, test plans, and training materials.
Ability to learn to adapt to the requirements of projects.
Desirable Proficiency with Microsoft Visio or equivalent diagramming tools.
Experience of implementing any of the following: Mimecast, DMARC, Cisco Duo, Teams Voice, NAC, VPN solutions, or backup technologies.
Familiarity with both Google Workspaces and Microsoft 365 environments.
