An established and growing hardware and building supplies business is seeking an experienced, commercially driven General Manager to lead branch operations and drive continued growth. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with full responsibility for performance, people, and profitability. It is a full-time permanent role, based in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. Organisation Our client is a well-respected name in the hardware and building materials sector, supplying both trade professionals and retail customers. Known for their strong customer relationships, broad product offering, and reliable service, they continue to invest in their people, operations, and facilities to support long-term growth. Key Responsibilities Sales & Commercial Performance: Own branch sales across trade counter, external sales, retail, and showroom. Drive growth and profitability through KPI monitoring, showroom optimisation, and a customer-first culture. Lead, coach, and support management and sales teams to achieve targets. Operations & Supply Chain: Oversee yard, warehouse, and transport operations. Manage inventory, procurement, and supplier relationships to ensure stock meets demand and aligns with commercial objectives. Financial & Cost Control: Monitor operational costs and support financial disciplines including credit control, working capital, and cost efficiency across the branch. People Management & Compliance: Lead and develop all branch staff, manage performance, and ensure full compliance with Health & Safety and company procedures across HR, administration, and operations. Requirements Senior Management Experience: 3-5 years in a general or branch management role in a commercial environment. Sales & Commercial Focus: Proven ability to drive sales growth, operational performance, and profitability. Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; experience managing teams in customer-facing or showroom environments. Strategic & Business Acumen: Confident contributing to senior management decisions and overall business strategy. Sector Experience: Previous experience in builders' merchants, hardware, building supplies, or DIY sectors is highly desirable. Remuneration & Benefits Competitive salary of €45,000 - €50,000 per annum (DOE). Full-time, permanent position with long-term career prospects. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 6:00 pm (flexibility can be arranged) with at least two Saturdays per month, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, offering a predictable schedule while supporting occasional weekend shifts.
