BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND - SOUTHERN REGION The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.
Applications are invited for the following post Senior Social Worker Ref: 37/2025 Specified Purpose part-time contract for one year (52.5 hours per fortnight) Location: Children Disability Network 13 (Carrigaline / Kinsale / Bandon, Co.
Cork) with bases in Carrigaline and Bandon Ethos The Brothers of Charity Services empower people with Intellectual Disability / Autism and their families to live the lives they choose.
Our focus going forward is to form a relationship/partnership with each individual and his or her family, enabling them to design their own service so that they can enjoy a real meaningful life in a real place with a healthy balance of supports.
We wish to create opportunities for people with an intellectual disability to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.
In order to assist us to achieve this vision we wish to recruit innovative and proactive people who will relish the opportunity to assist in implementing this vision.
Under the National programme for Progressing Disability Services for children (PDS), children's disability network teams were formed nationwide.
In Cork and Kerry there is a partnership arrangement to develop these teams between the HSE and agencies currently delivering services for children with disabilities (COPE, St.
Joseph's, Co-action, Brothers of Charity, Enable Ireland).
JOB SUMMARY The person/s appointed to this post will work as part of inter-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to children/young people from 0-18 years across all disabilities which includes intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities sensory/motor disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
She/he will be required to work as a key worker for particular cases.
The reporting relationship is to the Children Disability Network Managers.
Clinical governance and Clinical supervision will be provided by the Head of Department.
The Social Workers will ultimately be responsible to the Director of Services.
The Social Workers will work in conjunction with other team members in a senior role co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation and the Kerry Intervention & Disability Services.
The Social Workers will be responsible for the provision of a high quality service and will carry out Social Work duties as required.
The Candidate: Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.
Eligible applicants will be those on the closing date for the competition: Each candidate for the appointment must Be registered or eligible for registration, on the Social Work Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board at CORU AND Have a minimum of 3 years' relevant post qualification experience of working as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker with disability preferable AND Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office AND Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU before a contract can be issued AND Have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish roads with means of transport.
Annual registration On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU.
AND Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
Health Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
