Position Overview
As the FC, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the business managing a small finance team. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, ensuring financial health, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives. You'll collaborate closely with the CEO to make key business decisions and act as a key driver in our growth and success. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced FC who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with the ability to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Financial Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and leadership team to set financial goals, define business strategy, and drive long-term growth initiatives.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes. Provide data-driven insights, scenario modelling and recommendations to improve profitability, cash flow, and business performance.
3. Operations & Financial Oversight: Manage day-to-day financial operations, including all operational costs as well as accounting, cash management, financial reporting, and compliance.
4. Team Leadership: Lead and build a high-performing finance team. Provide guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities for staff.
5. Business Partnerships: Partner with other departments (e.g. Marketing, IT, Operations) to ensure alignment of financial targets with business goals and operational strategies. Challenge the norm to drive efficiencies & help identify new revenue streams.
6. Financial Systems & Processes: Drive continuous improvement initiatives including ERP system, financial & operational process improvements to ensure efficiency and scalability as the business expands.
Skills & Qualifications
7. Qualified Accountant - minimum 3 years in Financial Controller role
8. Proven experience as a FC, ideally in a small to medium sized business in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.
9. Skilled in modern accounting and CRM / ERP systems with data visualisation experience an advantage.
10. Experienced in working capital and cash flow management
11. Strong financial accounting and key metrics skills
12. Experience developing and managing a highly efficient finance team
13. Commercially astute with a strategic mind-set with the ability to analyse complex financial data and translate it into actionable business insights.
14. Hands-on, results-driven approach with a willingness to get involved in the details and execute day-to-day financial activities.
15. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence key business decisions.
16. Experience working directly with CEOs and executive teams to drive growth and deliver targets.
