The RoleThe organisation is seeking a Business Support Officer to provide a comprehensive range of professional, technical and administrative support services within its Planning function. Working as part of a flexible Business Support team, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of efficient, customer-focused and innovative Planning services, supporting both operational delivery and wider business continuity objectives.This is a part-time role (22.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday) Key responsibilities include:Providing a confidential and professional business support service across all Planning functionsActing as a first point of contact for public, business and stakeholder enquiries via telephone, email and in personProviding procedural and technical information or signposting enquiries to the appropriate officers or agenciesIssuing standard correspondence and updating planning systems, portals and registersOperating manual and computerised information systems to input, extract and report on dataSupporting planning appeals, property certificate requests and investigation filesOrganising and attending internal and multi-agency meetings, including minute-taking and follow-up actionsAssisting with the preparation of reports, returns, registers and marketing materialsMaintaining effective file management systems, both electronic and hard copyProcessing payments, maintaining ledgers, administering petty cash and raising purchase ordersSupporting inventory control, stock checks and procurement activityProviding reception and general office cover as required to support business continuityAssisting with continuous improvement of business support systems, procedures and policiesDeveloping and maintaining working knowledge of Planning services and practicesThe PersonEssential CriteriaA minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C), including English and Mathematics, or equivalentOR the ability to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a busy office or professional environmentAt least 1 year's relevant Business Support or administrative experience, including:Use of computerised information management systemsDelivering front line customer service to the public or external organisationsManaging high volumes of work and competing prioritiesProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookStrong organisational and workload management skillsAbility to work accurately, confidentially and with minimal supervisionA customer-focused approach with strong communication skillsPackage & BenefitsPart-time hours: 22.5 hours per week (Wednesday to Friday)Opportunity to gain experience within a statutory Planning serviceAccess to training, development and performance review processesHow to ApplyTo apply for this role, submit your CV via the application form provided.Alternatively, to speak in absolute confidence about this opportunity, please contact Zeena Jackson via zeena.j@honeycomb.jobs.DisclaimerIf you have a disability which means you require assistance at any stage of the recruitment process, please contact us directly to discuss.
