About the Role
The Communications Officer plays a key role in producing high-quality research, policy analysis, and compelling communications. The post-holder will provide evidence-based support for collective bargaining, campaigns, and advocacy while ensuring clear effective communication with members stakeholders and the wider public.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing clear accessible communications for members including newsletters website content briefings social media posts translating complex research and policy findings into engaging content for a non-technical audience supporting campaign communications including drafting timely messaging press releases promotional materials assisting with media relations maintaining updating digital platforms according to our strategy conducting quantitative qualitative research on workplace labour market socio-economic issues preparing briefings reports policy papers submissions informing collective bargaining campaigns public interventions monitoring legislative industrial developments affecting members analysing data from surveys official statistics internal sources supporting union negotiators officers evidence-based arguments background research designing member surveys consultations working organisers officers ensuring communications reflect members experiences priorities promoting events training union initiatives network branches trade unions campaign groups.
Essential Requirements
* At least 2 years proven experience similar role
* Experience of research policy analysis or communications in trade union NGO public sector campaigning organisation
* Digital communications social media management skills
* Strong analytical skills interpreting data policy documents excellent written verbal IT skills writing different audiences understanding trade union values workers rights industrial relations collective bargaining employment law labour market statistics experience supporting campaigns media work ability manage multiple tasks meeting deadlines fast-paced environment commitment equality diversity inclusion
