We are seeking an experienced Senior OT Engineer to support and enhance the operational technology landscape within our clients manufacturing environments. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of systems that enable GMP‑compliant production, including automation platforms, data infrastructure, and shop‑floor digital systems.The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in GMP manufacturing, strong technical capability across automation/IT/OT, and a passion for improving processes, reliability, and compliance.LocationOn‑site role with one of our clients in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn overall delivery of OT integration projects, acting as the primary technical authority and client‑facing lead.Define OT architecture and integration strategy across SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, MES, historians, and industrial networks.Plan, coordinate, and manage OT project execution, including scope, resources, timelines, risks, and dependencies.Lead OT lifecycle management strategy, including system upgrades, patching approaches, redundancy models, and long‑term supportability.Drive secure‑by‑design OT solutions, ensuring cybersecurity architecture, network segmentation, access governance, and risk mitigation are embedded from concept through operation.Oversee integration of OT systems with enterprise platforms (MES, LIMS, ERP, data platforms), ensuring data integrity, performance, and compliance.Act as senior escalation point for OT incidents, guiding root cause analysis and long‑term corrective actions.Partner with Automation, IT, Engineering, EHS, Manufacturing, and external vendors to align OT solutions with operational and regulatory requirements.Lead OT aspects of capital projects, equipment upgrades, and technology transfers, ensuring standardized design and successful handover to operations.Review and approve OT documentation including URS, FRS, system architecture, network diagrams, and validation deliverables.Support audits, regulatory inspections, and data integrity programs as OT technical lead.Mentor OT Engineers, providing technical guidance, standards, and best‑practice frameworks.Champion continuous improvement in OT standardization, digital manufacturing strategy, and system reliability.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.5+ years of experience working in an OT, Automation, or Manufacturing Systems role within Life Sciences (Biotech, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices).Knowledge of GMP, data integrity (ALCOA+), and regulatory standards.Experience with one or more OT/automation platforms: Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV, AVEVA/Wonderware, OSIsoft PI, MES platforms, or similar.Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA, VLANs, firewalls, segmentation).Familiarity with cybersecurity controls for OT environments (ISA/IEC‑62443 preferred).Strong problem‑solving and incident‑response capability in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting biologics, sterile operations, or batch process environments.Experience with equipment integration (e.g., skids, PAT tools, utilities systems).Experience in project delivery, validation, or system commissioning.Working knowledge of cloud‑connected OT systems or Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing.Experience mentoring more junior engineers
