Join to apply for the Legal Counsel role at Adecco.

This is a 12-month fully onsite role for a tech client based in Dublin 2, with the potential for permanency and a competitive package.


Role overview

* The scope of this legal role will encompass commercial, corporate, intellectual property, employment, and compliance matters arising from our Research and Development work in Ireland.
* This is an opportunity to work in a global company in cutting-edge, multi-national technological space.
* We are open to experienced Legal Executives, existing In-house Lawyers, and private practice Solicitors (with relevant secondment/in-house experience or a demonstrable commercial outlook).
* The selected candidate will work under the Head of Legal team.
* This role supports the client across a broad range of commercial, intellectual property and compliance matters related to its Research and Development offices in Ireland.
* The selected candidate will provide practical legal advice to business units and management on all legal issues arising from research, development, intellectual property activities in Ireland, as well as supporting internal compliance, staff training and ad hoc legal matters.
* The candidate will be part of the Ireland and global legal team and will work closely with colleagues across the group.


Key responsibilities

* Advise the business on a full range of contractual/transactional issues, including procurement, research partnerships, and related agreements.
* Review and draft general commercial contracts and other documents (NDAs, master service agreements, master procurement agreements, terms and conditions, IP-related agreements, licensing agreements) and real estate-related agreements.
* Support statutory compliance areas including anti-bribery, data protection and export control.
* Conduct training sessions for non-legal staff on compliance issues and other legal risk areas (e.g., anti-bribery, data protection, confidentiality/trade secrets, business conduct).
* Collaborate with Head of Legal and the European legal team to address issues of regional importance for research centres in Ireland and the EU.
* Provide horizon-scanning and advise management on upcoming changes in law or external business risks impacting operations in Ireland.


Requirements

* Qualified solicitor/lawyer with solid knowledge of Irish law.
* Excellent legal drafting skills with ability to work with templates and create bespoke wording as required.
* Experienced Legal Executive or Solicitor with experience in a law firm in Ireland or in-house at a recognised company/institution.
* Ability to explain legal issues in plain English to non-legal staff.
* Strong experience with commercial law/contracts and employment law along with related compliance areas.
* Demonstrable knowledge of intellectual property law (patent, copyright, trade secret, know-how) and data privacy issues.
* Ability to work with diverse stakeholders locally and globally and build strong relationships.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment.
* Pragmatic, commercial mindset with understanding of business needs.
* Good academic qualifications from a top-tier university.
* Ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions, communicate well, and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent planning, attention to detail, organisational and time management skills with ability to meet tight timelines.


Preferred

* Previous experience in an in-house environment.
* Experience working on cross-border transactions.
* Knowledge of employment law and/or real estate issues.
* Familiarity with research projects between academia and industry and understanding of university decision-making.
* Experience in intellectual property matters (protection, licensing, litigation, acquisition and divestment).
* Experience working with the Irish Government on export control and trade compliance issues.
