Job Purpose

">

The role of the Key Worker is to provide a service that improves the health and wellbeing of clients within their local communities.

">

Clients of this service are over 18 years old, have completed secondary education, and have a primary diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome (A.S.)/ ASD Non-ID.

">

The successful candidate will achieve this through the implementation of an accessible, equitable, person-centred service based in the community.

">

They will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to client support and intervention.

">

Responsibilities include developing, planning, implementing and reviewing individualised support/intervention programmes for clients according to service standards.

">

Key workers must also ensure best practice in line with up-to-date research regarding person-centred support/intervention, as outlined in New Directions.

">

Another key responsibility is increasing awareness, education and understanding of Asperger Syndrome / ASD Non-ID among professionals and the wider community.

">

This may involve liaising with managers regarding the referral and/or transition of clients between different elements of the service, as appropriate.

">

Collaboration with clients is also essential, including documenting all client engagement, intervention, support plans, progress notes, reports referrals to agreed professional standards.

">

Communication with the team is crucial, ensuring that support/recommendations/intervention programmes are effectively communicated verbally and/or in writing.

">

,Required Skills and Qualifications

">

A minimum of one year's experience working in the field of disability, education or training is required.

">

A third-level degree in Social Care, Education or Health is also essential.

">

Progressive understanding of ASD non-ID, including Asperger's Syndrome /High Functioning Autism is necessary.

">

Ability to work independently in challenging situations, including dealing with crises, is also required.

">
