The project: The Sustainability Manager for the Mace Responsible Business team is responsible for leading the development of client climate change, sustainability, and/or social value strategies on individual projects. This includes agreeing on project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team. The role also involves promoting innovation in sustainability topics such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, and sustainable buildings.

You’ll be responsible for:
* Having excellent knowledge of sustainable building design, including embodied and operational carbon and energy reduction in new build and refurbishment projects, considering programme, cost, and operational impacts of NZC strategies.
* Driving design teams to understand and respond to environmental constraints and opportunities to maximize positive environmental benefits.
* Expertise in one or more sustainability topics such as waste, water, energy, carbon, responsible sourcing, building design, biodiversity, etc.
* Translating technical topics into layperson language and articulating the value of sustainability.
* Representing Mace at relevant forums and through presentations to clients and working groups.
* Championing sustainability and encouraging behavioral change throughout the business.
* Developing innovation and best practices, and communicating these effectively to the wider business and clients.
* Translating EMS best practices across areas and analyzing reporting needs to simplify processes.
* Supporting work winning and bidding with strong business acumen.
* Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders, including design team members, contractors, sub-contractors, and regulators.
* Performing any other ad hoc duties as required.
You’ll need to have:
* A degree in a relevant environmental or science subject.
* Experience in project, contractor, stakeholder engagement, or delivering employment & skills requirements.
* Experience in developing and/or implementing environmental management systems on projects.
* Practical sector experience (e.g., infrastructure such as rail or highways) is beneficial.
* Project management skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
