Geraghty Energy Consultants, an established independent firm with over 15 years of expertise in building performance analysis and energy auditing, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Building Simulation/Energy Engineer to join our team (Junior to Intermediate Level). Committed to exceeding regulatory standards, we provide innovative solutions in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction to support building designers and construction professionals in achieving exceptional environmental performance. This role is aimed at skilled engineers who are passionate about advancing sustainable building practices and eager to work on some of the largest, high-impact developments with major organisations in Ireland and internationally.
Responsibilities:
· Develop 3D models and conduct simulations to evaluate sustainable building designs.
· Analyse simulation results to identify improvement areas, compare solutions, and ensure compliance with design requirements.
· Prepare technical reports presenting model results and design solutions.
· Collaborate with clients, designers, and contractors throughout project development.
· Perform necessary calculations to support energy modelling and energy auditing.
· Assist senior engineer with building surveys and assessments.
Typical Simulations Studies Include:
· Energy performance analysis for Part L compliance and BER certification using VE Compliance.
· Analysis of operational energy use to TM49 using Apache Sim.
· Thermal comfort studies of internal spaces to TM52 and TM59 using Macroflo.
· Daylight analysis for planning applications using Radiance.
· Thermal load calculations to CIBSE standards using IES.
· Perform modelling and analysis to support environmental certification schemes, including EXEED, BREEAM and LEED.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field (Services Engineering; Sustainability Energy Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; etc).
· Proficiency in IESVE programs (VE SBEM, Apache Sim, Radiance, Macroflo, CIBSE Loads) with 2 years of experience (demonstrated through previous projects).
· Strong MS Excel skills for data analysis and charting.
· Experience preparing technical reports with graphical illustrations.
· Understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
· Ability to interpret architectural and building services drawings and specifications.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Detail oriented, reliable, and able to work independently.
· Knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and BER requirements (Preferred).
· Registration on the BER Register (Preferred).
