Role Title:Clinical Nurse Manager II: Theatre, South Dublin Surgical Hub (Mount Carmel Hospital) Job Reference Number: Closing Date:Sunday, 21st December **** Purpose of the Role: Mount Carmel Hospital is a surgical hub on the south side of Dublin under the clinical governance of St. James's Hospital.
This hub consists of 2 day-theatres and 2 minor operation theatres covering a wide variety of specialties.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of the highest standard of nursing care to patients, manage all nursing and allied staff in the day surgery unit and be responsible for maintaining and developing professional standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities The role of the CNM II is to: Provide efficient and effective management of the operating theatre in such a way as to provide a safe environment for patients and staff, while making the best use of resources.
Oversees day-to-day operations of the surgical hub and is available to provide guidance, leadership and knowledge to scrub nurses.
Promote collaboration within the department and the multidisciplinary team and acts as a liaison between disciplines.
Deputises for the CNM III when needed.
Responsible for rostering and staffing ensuring that theatres are correctly and adequately staffed according to caseload and skill mix and possesses critical thinking skills to make decisions in situations where staffing is inadequate due to unforeseen circumstances.
Engage with key stakeholders to ensure hygiene standards are maintained for patients, staff, and visitors.
Proactively manages quality and safety standards at local and directorate level.
Proactively manages compliance to standards, policies, and guidelines as established, St James's Hospital SACC Directorate and the South Dublin Surgical Hub (Mount Carmel Hospital).
The Clinical Nurse Manager II must adhere to the Code of Professional Practice and Behaviours for Registered Nurses.

Is aware of and understands the need to adhere to Hospital and/or professional standards, policies, and procedures, relevant to their area of practice.

Maintain flexibility and a broad knowledge base of a variety of current surgical procedures carried out in the local area different specialties through peer networking, published literature and professional meetings.

Works effectively in recruiting, evaluating and retaining nursing staff.
Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to Health and Safety as outlined in the Safety, Health and Welfare Act **** and the Hospital Safety Statement.
Ensure own mandatory learning and training is kept up to date.

Required: Registered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register.
5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area within the last 7 years.
Demonstrate management experience throughout the last 2 years.
Completed a postgraduate diploma in perioperative nursing or commitment to undertake within 2 years.
Demonstrate I.T. skills including excellent keyboard skills.
Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and HCA team throughout the last 2 years.
Desired: Management course.
Experience in perioperative nursing across various specialties.
Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
