Key Responsibilities
Ensure EHS management systems for all the projects are implemented and maintained.
Adherence to the project and Mercury Engineering Safety Management system.
Adherence to relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions and legislation.
Adherence to Mercury Engineering and PSCS Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
Coordinate the development of task specific method statements, risk assessments, safe plan of action, and permit to work.
Compliance with the project safety statement.
Coordinate project safety indicators.
Maintain good safety practices.
Ongoing COSHH assessments and control of hazardous substances.
Complete and register safety interventions.
Carry out regular site audits and inspections, document reports and establish corrective and preventive actions.
Attend and provide input at site meetings, report on EHS risks and trends, and recommend actions towards continuous improvement.
Provide advice and guidance in all EHS matters to management, safety representatives and employees.
Ensure records of statutory inspections are available for project activities, tools and plant.
Adopt a proactive approach to project EHS requirements.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Provide safety input to site management and at site EHS forums.
Ensure project subcontractors adhere to project EHS policies and procedures.
Coordinate Mercury Engineering site induction and training; manage and maintain PPE resources.
Compile and carry out toolbox talks as necessary.
Assist with accident investigation reports in a timely manner and communicate findings to Mercury Engineering project management.
Welfare and hygiene facilities are in place, managed and maintained.
Liaise with site Project Management on environmental, health and safety issues.
Maintain up-to-date documentation in the Safety File.
Support waste reduction and recycling programmes in line with project policies and procedures.
Essential Criteria
Relevant third level Certificate qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety (HETAC Level 7 or Equivalent).
Minimum 3 years of site experience.
Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation.
Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site.
Strong communication and computer skills.
Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
