Practice Nurse for Primary Care Centre Co Cork Location: 20 minutes West of Cork City Contract: Permanent, Full-Time / Part-Time 30 to 35 hours per week Salary: DOE (based on experience and qualifications) Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Practice Nurse to join a busy, patient-centred GP practice. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care, support chronic disease management, and work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff to ensure the highest standards of primary care. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Provide comprehensive nursing care in line with clinical guidelines and best practice Perform vaccinations and immunisations (childhood, adult, flu, travel) Conduct phlebotomy, ECGs, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, and wound care Manage and support chronic disease clinics: Diabetes Asthma/COPD Cardiovascular disease Hypertension Assist in women's health services including cervical screening (smear tests) Provide health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education Support minor procedures, dressings, suture removal, and ear irrigation Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with HIQA and NMBI standards Ensure safe practice in infection prevention and control Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary team meetings Qualifications & Experience Essential Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMBI active PIN Minimum 1 year post-registration experience Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and wound care Excellent communication and organisational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Desirable (Advantage but not essential) Experience in a GP practice / primary care setting Cervical Screening Chronic Disease Management experience Vaccination certification (including anaphylaxis and CPR) Experience in women's health, paediatrics, or health promotion What the Practice Offers Competitive salary based on experience Supportive, friendly working environment Opportunities for ongoing CPD and skill development Regular working hours (no nights) Skills: Experienced general nurse caring general nurse supportive general nurse NMBI registered nurse
