The role of a Process Manager is critical in ensuring that all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations are followed within the plant. This includes reporting any current or potential hazards to the immediate manager immediately.
The Process Manager must also ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). They must understand and adhere to these SOPs, maintaining good housekeeping and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as critical elements of the business.
One of the key responsibilities of the Process Manager is to plan and schedule work in accordance with plant demand and available manpower. This requires effective communication with all other departments to maintain open relations.
In addition, the Process Manager is responsible for promoting good employee relations and engagement on site. They must drive a Continuous Improvement culture through effective Root Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
The Process Manager may be required to deputize for the Operations Manager in their absence. They will be expected to be adaptable and flexible in response to changing plant needs.
The major responsibilities of this role include managing and executing complex projects in a highly regulated quality-controlled food manufacturing environment. This involves modeling manufacturing and automated processes to maximize understanding within the function.
The Process Manager will oversee, coach, and develop the technical team within the Value stream. They must ensure that all new equipment is validated according to QA procedures.
This role requires calculating and organizing data for complex process flow sheets, including instrumentation and control considerations. The Process Manager must prepare specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment.
They will conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over variables such as temperature, density, pressure, and viscosity.
The Process Manager will service, troubleshoot, and solve engineering problems with processes or equipment via a cross-functional structured problem-solving approach.
This role requires ensuring that processes and procedures are compliant with regulatory requirements. The Process Manager may be responsible for corrective and preventive actions, and investigation management.
They will develop, communicate, and implement operational plans for completing complex specialist projects in the area.
The Process Manager takes proactive action to resolve operational problems and minimize downtime.
They participate in selecting and managing the activities of contractors to ensure they are integrated into relevant projects and the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
Key qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's Degree in Food Process Engineering or an equivalent discipline. A minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in engineering is required.
Prior experience in a Dairy/Food Process Engineering role is desirable. Knowledge of Spray drying operations and/or Evaporation is also desirable.
The ability to organize, motivate, and understand teams is essential. Good mental ability to logically pursue a structured problem-solving approach is also required.
